I have NEVER tried spin, except when my friend and fitness junkie Brenda introduced me to it for a few minutes a couple years ago. I'm sure she'd have lots of advice on what to do and what she does to still get in fitness. Brenda is a spin instructor, I wish i could introduce you to her :)
I LOVE spin/cycling classes. And it is torture not being able to attend one. I am grateful for the conditioning because when the humidity down here in southern MD is not killer I find a friend to go on a ride and find myself not dying so fast from distance nor extreme hills and am very proud of myself to accomplish.😁
Gayle, if i lived closer to you, I'd def be calling out to you to see if you are available for a bike ride or walk. You always motivate me with your long walk posts. Also, i do get lonely on some of my bike rides. I am sure it's better by you in MD with less Queens traffic. Also, you have your cute dogs...wish i could meet them! THANK YOU for posting! you are a rockstar :)
I don't spin, but I love LOVE my recumbent stationary bike. And I do the interval program at least once a week.
Hi JC! I know you are very busy and just came back from a trip to visit family. I almost felt bad asking you to come by to visit the site since I know you are working and traveling. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out here very much. I'm happy that you are home and will be writing on "the other site" again soon (I hope!).
Regarding your stationary bike, the interval program is great to push yourself, lose the boredom factor, and add in some agility training. By agility, i'm speaking more about the ability to change speeds and improve your speed because of the interval training.
When i used to run, intervals of fast mixed with slow runs are what really, REALLY, helped me improve my speed.
In terms of indoor exercise equipment that is low stress and easy to do for a long time and while you watch tv or talk on the phone or read (if your preference is multi-tasking), a recumbent bike is perfect. PS - I <3 my recumbent bike as well.
It's perfect when the weather outdoors in not perfect.
Thank you for commenting on a post that's in the works already and adding your own insight based on your personal experience!
And even though Gayle, above poster, mentions missing spin, she does have an outdoor exercise bike. I'm glad we are all still active during Covid.
